How to choose the right fire extinguisher
What can burn. Choose the type of extinguisher according to the materials in the area: a different one for paper and wood than for electronics or liquids.
Fire rating. The label shows a combination of a number and a letter, such as 21A or 113B. A higher number means the extinguisher can put out a larger test fire.
Charge weight. 6 kg extinguishers are most commonly used in business premises, smaller ones in cars and machines. The extinguisher must be manageable for the employee who will use it.
Number and placement. These follow from the fire safety design of the building and STN 92 0202. Extinguishers must be in a visible and permanently accessible location.

Frequently asked questions about fire extinguishers
How often must a fire extinguisher be inspected?
A portable fire extinguisher is inspected at least once every 24 months unless the manufacturer's instructions specify a shorter interval for the environment. A mobile CO2 extinguisher once every 12 months (Section 9 of Decree No. 347/2022 Coll.). A new extinguisher must be inspected before installation if more than 24 months have passed since the year of manufacture.
Which fire extinguisher is suitable for an office or business premises?
The most universal is the ABC powder extinguisher, which puts out solids, flammable liquids and gases. Where there is expensive electronics, such as a server room or switchboard, a CO2 extinguisher that leaves no residue is suitable. The exact type and number are determined by the fire safety design of the building.
How many fire extinguishers must a building have?
The number and type of fire extinguishers are determined by the technical standard STN 92 0202, which has replaced STN 92 0202-1 since April 2026 (Section 89 of Decree No. 94/2004 Coll.) and are usually set out in the fire safety design of the building. If you don't have it to hand, a fire protection technician will assess the number and placement.
Can we inspect our fire extinguishers ourselves?
No. Inspection, repair and refilling of a fire extinguisher may only be carried out by a person with a special authorisation under Section 11c of Act No. 314/2001 Coll. After the inspection they issue a certificate and attach an inspection label to the extinguisher.
What should be done with a used or damaged fire extinguisher?
A used extinguisher or one with a defect is not considered operational and must be replaced without undue delay by an extinguisher with the same or higher fire rating (Section 6 of Decree No. 347/2022 Coll.). The original extinguisher can be repaired and refilled if the manufacturer allows it; otherwise it is taken out of service.

We only sell certified fire extinguishers with a 2-year warranty. We provide inspections and pressure tests throughout their service life.
