Inspection of hydrants and hose reels
After being put into service, fire-fighting water supply equipment is inspected at least once every 12 months unless the manufacturer specifies a shorter interval. During the inspection we check:
the functionality of supply points, shut-off and connection fittings, valves, hoses and hose reels
free access to water sources, supply points and hose systems
that hose systems are fitted with the prescribed equipment
the operating parameters of supply points and hose systems
the marking of outdoor supply points and hose systems
the readiness of pumping equipment and the amount of water in the tank
Under Section 15 of Decree No. 699/2004 Coll. We prepare an inspection record of the actual condition with proposals for remedying shortcomings.
Frequently asked questions about hydrants and hose reels
How often must hydrants and hose reels be inspected?
At least once every 12 months unless the manufacturer specifies a shorter interval (Section 15(2) of Decree of the Ministry of the Interior No. 699/2004 Coll.). A record of the inspection is prepared with proposals for remedying shortcomings.
What does a hydrant inspection include?
The functionality of supply points, fittings, valves, hoses and reels, free access, the prescribed equipment, operating parameters, marking, the readiness of pumping equipment and the amount of water in the tank.
What is the difference between a hose reel and a hydrant with a flat hose?
A hose reel has a semi-rigid hose that one person can use without fully unwinding it. A flat hose must be fully unrolled before use, but it takes up less space.
What is the difference between an above-ground and an underground hydrant?
An above-ground hydrant has its outlet fitting above the ground and the hose is connected directly. An underground hydrant is below ground level and a hydrant standpipe is needed to connect the hose.
What fire hoses do you sell?
B75, C52 and D25 hoses in rubber-lined and polyester versions. An overview is on the Fire hoses page.
